MANHATTAN, Kan. (KWCH) – Several buildings caught fire in Riley County, near a Kansas State University facility, on Wednesday morning.
At around 4:05 a.m., Riley County Fire District #1 and the Manhattan Fire Department responded to reports of a fire, which was located near the Kansas State University Dairy Unit. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters found heavy flames coming from several storage buildings north of the campus.
42 units responded to the fire. Several storage buildings, along with the contents inside, were destroyed. However, no people or animals were injured.
A damage estimate is not available yet. Kansas State staff are assisting with removing debris from the scene, while fire crews continue to fully extinguish the fire.
The Kansas Fire Marshal and the Kansas State University Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
