Here are the latest updates on some of the food assistance programs available in Central New York.

A Syracuse food pantry is temporarily closed

The Syracuse Northeast Community Center announced that their food pantry will be closed Monday.

The food pantry did not have enough food to give out to residents, according to the Facebook post announcing the closure.

The community center accepts donations of non-perishable food items, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. They encourage those looking to make donations to call ahead of time to schedule a drop-off.

The food pantry itself will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m.

Mobile Food Pantry Schedule

While the federal government remains shut down, the Food Bank of Central New York has announced where its Mobile Food Pantry will be stopping around the region.

The Mobile Food Pantry, or MFP, distributes boxes of fresh food to communities throughout Central New York.

The MFP will be stopping at the following locations at the designated times.

Central Square Middle School — Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.
Cummings Field in Eastwood  — Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.
Cuyler Fire Department — Thursday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m.
First Baptist Church — Friday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m.

The Mobile Food Pantry was launched in 2016 in Utica and looks to provide fresh foods to areas with limited access to food assistance programs.
The program sends out a weekly schedule on its Facebook page.
