State Senator John Liu recognized the winners of the America 250 Declaration of Independence Recitation Contest. The contest was announced last month as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of America, and asked students in the community to recite portions of the Declaration of Independence and reflect on our nation’s founding document. The 13 winning students will participate in a reading of the Declaration of Independence during Senator Liu’s America 250 Celebration on June 28th.
State Senator John Liu stated, “The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important foundational documents in our nation’s history, and these students are doing an amazing job in bringing this historical document to life. We invite everyone in our community to come out on June 28th and join the youth of our community in celebrating the founding of our nation and reflecting on what it means to be an American.”
