Cops are looking for this suspect, who allegedly assaulted a young boy on the playground behind P.S. 144Q in Forest Hills.

Police from the 112th Precinct Forest Hills are looking for an alleged grownup who assaulted a young boy in front of his mother on the playground at P.S. 144Q on Monday, June 15.
The 6-year-old victim was in the playground at 69-49 Kessel St. behind the Col. Jeromus Remsen School, located at 69-20 Juno St. in Forest Hills, at 6 p.m., when a stranger approached him and struck him in the back of his head with an open hand, police said. The youngster was in the company of his mother at the time of the slap. The suspect fled the playground in an unknown direction. EMS transported the child to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills for treatment. He was not injured but in considerable pain. A police spokeswoman could not say what provoked the attack or if the mother tried to retaliate against her child’s assailant.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect and described him as an Asian man in his 30s or 40s with black hair and rimless eyeglasses. He was last seen wearing a light blue collared shirt.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.

Through June 14, the 112th Precinct has reported 70 felony assaults so far in 2026, a half dozen fewer than the 76 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 7.9%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
