Authorities have confirmed that the woman found dead in Bowne Park Sunday evening is the person reported missing from her Flushing home 15 hours earlier.
Qinmei Lin, 73, of 26th Avenue lived five blocks from the park. She was reported missing from her home at 3:20 a.m.
She was found at 6 p.m. in the pond at the western end of the park and was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple news outlets quoted sources as saying Lin suffered from dementia. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
