An NYPD officer has been shot and the gunman has been critically wounded after a standoff in Brooklyn on Friday morning.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the NYPD Technical Assistance Response Unit and Emergency Service Unit had descended on 190 Kosciusko St. at about 5:45 a.m. on June 19. The incident occurred within the confines of the 79th Precinct.
While details are still preliminary as to what exactly the 48-year-old suspect was wanted for, he barricaded himself inside the home. As police engaged with the suspect just before 9 a.m. Friday, sources said, one officer was shot in the leg.
He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Meanwhile, the gunman was also struck by police gunfire and is in critical condition.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area as the investigation unfolds.
