A fire broke out at a historic Brooklyn church Friday afternoon, with flames engulfing the steeple, video showed.

The FDNY got a call about the fire at the South Bushwick Reformed Church on Bushwick Avenue near Himrod Street just before 1:30 p.m., according to fire officials. The flames could be seen from miles away.

Flames consumed the steeple of the church, which has stood since the 1850s. Nearly 200 firefighters responded to the scene.

No injuries had been reported. Firefighters were still working to put out the flames Friday evening. It was not clear what may have sparked the blaze.
