Two spots in the Capital Region are receiving funding for water and sewer infrastructure improvement projects.
Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office on Thursday announced that the city of Troy is getting $15.6 million from the state to help with its water and sewer infrastructure.
The money will fund a new corrosion control treatment system.
Another $1.8 million is headed to the village of Athens to fund the planning and design of sanitary sewer improvements.
“New York is investing billions in water infrastructure because protecting public health and supporting local communities go hand-in-hand,” Hochul said in a statement. “These investments will help municipalities modernize aging systems and deliver the clean, reliable and affordable water that New Yorkers expect and deserve.”
It comes as part of $74 million Hochul’s office announced for water and sewer projects across the state.
