STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A woman in her 60s was critically injured after being struck by a car in Port Richmond on Saturday, according to police and a source with knowledge of the incident.

The collision occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Decker Avenue near Catherine Street, police said. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The driver fled the scene following the crash, police said. The vehicle involved is believed to be a white BMW SUV, but that has yet to be confirmed, police said. Sources said the automobile had no license plates and front-end damage. It was last seen headed toward Forest Avenue, sources said.

A source with knowledge of the incident said the woman had been at a nearby yard sale shortly before the crash and may have been crossing the street when she was struck by an alleged speeding car.

Frames and other items, the woman is believed to have purchased at the yard sale, were seen strewn about the street, according to witnesses.
