For the second consecutive day, the Chicago Cubs are victims of Mother Nature as their contest vs. the New York Mets was postponed due to rain Monday.
The Cubs’ game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday was also postponed, and the rain once again is impacting the team’s schedule as they had been set to kick off a seven-game road trip at Citi Field Monday night.
According to the Mets, Monday’s game will be made up on Wednesday as part of a split-doubleheader, with first pitch set for 12:10 p.m. Central. The second game will start at its originally scheduled time of 6:10 p.m. Central time.
The postponement means the Cubs will have to play 10 games in the span of nine days, including four games against the Mets, three against the Milwaukee Brewers and three at Wrigley Field against the San Diego Padres.
The Cubs currently sit at 40-37 on the season, seven games behind the Brewers in the National League Central. They are sitting in the third wild card spot in the National League, with just a one-half game lead over the Padres, Marlins and Nationals.
The Cubs and Mets will aim to get their series started on Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 6:10 p.m.
