STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two New York City elected officials came together Monday to offer a last-minute endorsement of a Staten Island Civil Court judge candidate.

Charles D. Fall, the Richmond County Democratic Party Chairman and 61st District assemblymember, joined Mark Levine, Manhattan Borough President and New York City Comptroller candidate, to throw their support behind Matthew Santamauro.

An attorney backed by a trio of the NYPD’s organizations — the PBA, the Captains organization, and the Lieutenants organization — Santamauro, according to a written statement, has more than three decades of practice in the courtroom.

“I am proud to endorse Matthew Santamauro for Civil Court judge on Staten Island. He not only possesses the necessary experience to serve on the bench, but he also has the wisdom and compassion to serve the community. I want someone presiding over our courts who is connected to the community and understands all sides of the legal system, and that is Matt Santamauro,” said Levine.

Said Fall: “We have a very important race taking place on Staten Island, and that is the Civil Court judicial race. Early voting turnout was high, but we need everyone to get out and vote on Election Day for Matthew Santamauro for Civil Court Judge. It is important to have someone serving on the bench who will uphold the rule of law while also showing compassion to those in need. Matt Santamauro is that person, and he is the only qualified candidate who has the experience to serve in this seat.”

Fall additionally encouraged voters to cast their ballots for Levine in his pursuit of the comptrollership.
