NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — New York City officials have issued a travel advisory as heavy rain and storms are expected to hit the region.
The rain is anticipated to intensify in the evening and continue overnight, increasing the risks of localized flooding.

High winds will accompany the storm front, with isolated gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour possible.
Officials predict up to two inches of total rainfall; however, some areas could see up to four inches.
New Yorkers are urged to avoid driving through flooded streets, as even shallow water can stall vehicles. If the storms are severe, stay indoors.
In preparation for the storms, the City has cleared catch basins and inspected flood-prone neighborhoods.
The Downed Tree Task Force and the Tow Truck Task Force will be ready to respond and assist with fallen trees or branches and stranded vehicles.
