BOROUGHWIDE — A NEW SEASON OF FARMERS MARKETS opened at public hospitals and community health centers across the city, including two in Brooklyn.
NYC Health + Hospitals today launched a new season of farmers markets, which local partners GrowNYC and Harvest Home are operating, to make it easy for anyone in the community to access fresh, local fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. Various payment options are available, including Fresh Food Box sites, EBT/SNAP, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons, and Women, Infants and Children coupons.
The Brooklyn locations are in Coney Island and East Flatbush. Harvest Home will manage the farmers market hosted at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health at 2567 Ocean Parkway on Fridays through Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County will host a farmers market on Wednesdays through Nov. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Some of the markets will also offer on-site cooking demonstrations on how to prepare in-season vegetables. More information on the local partners is available through their websites.
