NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — It’s primary election night in New York City, and many key congressional seats hang in the balance.
The polls close at 9 p.m., and results will start trickling in shortly after. PIX11 News is stationed across the city alongside candidates in highly anticipated races: NY-7, NY-10, NY-12 and NY-13.
On Tuesday, voters will choose their parties’ candidates for the upcoming midterm election in November. Considering many New York City districts consistently vote Democratic, these races will likely be decided in Tuesday’s primary.

All eyes are on the House of Representatives, which Republicans currently control. Democrats have a chance to flip control of the House, and confidently plan to.
In New York City, it’s a battle of the progressives. In the 10th District, which covers lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn, incumbent Democrat Dan Goldman is facing a tough challenge from Mayor Zohran Mamdani-endorsed Brad Lander.

It’s a similar story to that of New York’s 13th District, which encompasses upper Manhattan and part of the Bronx. Incumbent Adriano Espaillat is facing a Democratic socialist challenger in Darializa Avila Chevalier, who also has Mamdani’s support.
In midtown Manhattan’s 12th District, four Democrats are fighting for the seat long held by Congressman Jerry Nadler. Polls showed state Assemblymembers Micah Lasher and Alex Bores breaking away with the lead.
And in New York’s 7th District, a highly progressive area covering Williamsburg, Bushwick and Astoria, Democratic leaders are torn. Mamdani endorsed Democratic socialist Claire Valdez, while long-time outgoing Rep. Nydia Velázquez endorsed her competitor, Antonio Reynoso.
