Former City Comptroller Brad Lander will be the Democratic Party nominee in November’s election for New York’s 10th Congressional District, according to The Associated Press.
Lander, who was endorsed by and campaigned alongside Mayor Zohran Mamdani, was challenging incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman in Tuesday’s primary.
The district covers Lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn from downtown to Park Slope.
Lander received 62% of votes, compared to Goldman’s 37.8%, with more than 34% of the expected vote in, according to The Associated Press.
Goldman, a two-term congressman and heir to the Levi Strauss & Co. fortune, was first elected to serve the district in 2022. He rose to fame as the lead impeachment lawyer for House Democrats during Donald Trump’s first impeachment inquiry.
