NYC Green Fund announces recipients

CITYWIDE– THE CITY PARKS FOUNDATION and Partnerships for Parks on Monday announced the recipients of the fall 2025 NYC Green Fund Grassroots grant program. Fifty-seven community groups, including fifteen from Brooklyn, will receive a total of $350,000 through the privately funded program.

The current round of funding will provide grants from $2,000 to $23,000 to supply local parks and open spaces across the city with live arts and culture, environmental action, tree canopy expansion, youth development, and health and wellness programming. The funded projects address environmental and social crises with innovative, community-led responses.

Some highlights include the NYC Mushroom Network, which will transform urban wood waste through mushroom inoculation workshops at events like the Parks Department’s Mulchfest; the Brooklyn-based Frog and Peach Theatre Company, which will bring its all-ages bilingual musical variety show “TINKERBELL LIVE” to six community gardens; and Tea Arts and Culture, which will organize 35 free events across the city dedicated to exploring the art of tea.

The NYC Green Fund provides financial support for community groups sustaining local parks, particularly groups focused on addressing inequity and climate change. The Grassroots program prioritizes support for Environmental Justice Areas, minority-led community groups, and groups with budgets under $50,000; supporting communities that experience historic and ongoing disparities.
