MORRISVILLE, New York (WWNY) – A SUNY campus is on lockdown after a reported shooting.
SUNY Morrisville is located east of Syracuse, in Madison County.
According to New York State Police, troopers responded to South Hall on the SUNY Morrisville campus at around 3:45 p.m. following a report of a person shot.
Troopers say the victim, a 20-year-old male who is not a student, was found with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
According to State Police, no other individuals were injured during the incident. There are no reports of any additional victims and no indication of any ongoing threat to the campus community at this time.
Both State Police and Madison County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
A command post has been set up as law enforcement continues to process the scene and search nearby areas.
All evening classes are canceled and the school remains on lockdown.
Governor Kathy Hochul posted on X she has been briefed on the shooting.

New York State Police are assisting local law enforcement and SUNY leadership as they respond to this situation.
The campus remains on lockdown until further notice.
