On Wednesday, June 17, the Steinway Astoria Partnership held its annual meeting. The event was hosted at Lunera Fusion Restaurant located at 32-24 Steinway Street and was well attended by business and property owners. Kevin Foley, President of the BID, thanked the members and Executive Director and staff for their dedication. Tony Barsamian, Chairman of the BID, went over the previous year’s programs and events. He continued by going through the BID’s FY26 Fiscal Report and the FY27 Budget stating that the Steinway Astoria Partnership continued to maintain fiscal responsibility, noting the budget was identical to the previous year. Some discussion centered on the future of the district and whether expanding the business improvement district or rezoning might have a positive impact. Senator Michael Gianaris, the guest speaker, spoke about his memories of Steinway Street growing up in Astoria. Tony thanked the senator for his remarks and presented him with an award for his years of dedication to the street and Astoria. The senator shall be missed in the years to come for his steady guidance and dedication to the neighborhood. Tony thanked Lunera for hosting and complimented the excellent cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
