A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration cannot access health records of transgender youth from hospitals across the city.
Federal prosecutors wanted those records on minors, including medical assessments, their diagnoses and the transgender status of patients.
The Trump administration even went so far as to get a grand jury subpoena to force NYU Langone hospitals to supply the documents.
The judge issued a temporary restraining order against that subpoena today, saying the government’s interest does not outweigh patients’ right to privacy.
Meanwhile, today the City Council’s Committee on General Welfare and Committee on Women and Gender Equity met to discuss housing instability among New Yorkers.
Brooklyn Council Member Crystal Hudson, the chair of the General Welfare Committee, joined “The Rush Hour” on Wednesday to talk more about the hearing.
