You probably remember that Brooklyn effectively broke the internet back in January, when he posted a dramatic six-post Instagram statement slamming his family after a year of speculation that all was not well between him and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and his parents and siblings, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

You can read a full recap of the entire feud here, but all you really need to know is that he made it incredibly clear that he has no desire to reconcile with his family, and accused them of being consistently disrespectful towards Nicola.

Speculation of tension between the two camps first began to bubble up last year after Brooklyn and Nicola were notably absent from all three of his dad, David Beckham’s, 50th birthday celebrations. Brooklyn also did not publicly acknowledge Father’s Day, or his dad’s prestigious honor of receiving a knighthood. In addition, he and Nicola did not post about either of his parents’ or brothers’ birthdays on social media.

It’s been much of the same this year; while devoted social media posts have always been par for the course for the Beckhams — and Brooklyn and Nicola used to partake — they have not acknowledged any of his family’s special occasions this year.

In addition, when David received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star earlier this month, Brooklyn did not attend the ceremony, even though it was only about 20 minutes away from his and Nicola’s Los Angeles home. Victoria, and their three youngest children were proudly there to support the soccer pro at the West Hollywood event.

And on Wednesday, Brooklyn made a point of the fact that he does still celebrate some people on their birthdays — and even enjoys spending time with them. Sharing a photo of himself and his father-in-law, “billionaire bully” Nelson Peltz, to his Instagram story, Brooklyn pointedly wrote: “Happy birthday Nelson x I love u so much ❤️ I’m so happy I could celebrate you today! Thank you for being the best father in law ❤️”
In the picture, Brooklyn and Nelson are wearing matching party attire at his birthday celebration, with balloons and streamers visible in the background. The post comes just three days after Brooklyn snubbed David for Father’s Day, and the whole thing has rubbed people the wrong way. Comments on the story post include: “You’re old enough to know how hurtful this will be. Shame on you.”

“makes me sad you have posted this, yes celebrate your FIL’s birthday, but this is very cruel, one day you’ll ‘grow up,'” another wrote. Somebody else added: “So disrespectful putting this up the you have issues towards your own father. This is not nice for him to see.”Meanwhile, Nicola shared an Instagram grid post for Nelson’s birthday, including photos of herself and Brooklyn with her dad. She captioned the post: “happy birthday dad! i love celebrating you! i feel truly blessed to have grown up watching you be such an incredible role model in every way possible. you’re the best father i could ever dream of. you love us all unconditionally, encourage us that our dreams are never too big to chase and to always always be a good human before all else. i love you more than you could ever know! i hope all your wishes come true and this is your best year yet, you deserve everything perfect! i love you sooooooo much!! 💖🎂🥹🪻⛱️🌭🍦🫶🏼🌻🍕🤠🤞🏻”

If you’re wondering, David and Victoria maintained a dignified silence in response to Brooklyn’s January outburst. When Victoria was asked about her eldest son in an interview with the Wall Street Journal back in April, she avoided getting into specifics. She told the publication at the time: “I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Meanwhile, when David was asked about the situation in an interview with Variety earlier this month, he shut down the question, calling it a “private matter.”
