The New York New Jersey Host Committee for the World Cup forecast that the eight World Cup at MetLife Stadium would bring 1.2 million visitors to the region

However, the tournament comes after a report last year showed a decline in the number of international visitors.

Nancy Mammana, chief marketing officer at New York City Tourism + Conventions, joined NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry on “News All Day” to discuss if the World Cup is living up to expectations.

“We are feeling cautiously optimistic,” Mammana said. “We know that there are international headwinds up against travel across the United States.”

Mammana says hotel occupancy in the city was at 90% for the first week of the World Cup and international tourism is up slightly this month.
