Friends of Crocheron & John Golden Park will hold their 4th Annual International Yoga Day Celebration on Saturday June 27. The event is free and open to the public. The event is planned in collaboration with Ambeka Khadse, a local yoga instructor who hosts Monday evening yoga in Crocheron Park every week through Shape Up NYC and Friends of Crocheron’s Yoga Centering series funded by NewYork-Presbyterian’s Mini-grant, with fiscal sponsorship by FJC – Foundations of Philanthropic Funds. Registration for the event can be done at crocheronpark.org/yoga.
International Yoga Day, established by the UN in 2015, is observed annually on June 21 to raise awareness about the physical and mental health benefits of practicing yoga. Friends of Crocheron hosts the annual free community event to share a holistic approach to wellness among our park community. The UN’s theme for this year is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing how yoga is important for people of all ages.
The event will begin with a brief overview of Friends of Crocheron’s mission and how yoga in the park connects parkgoers to the land. The International Yoga Day serves as a platform to educate and inspire our park community about the value that yoga has for a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The event looks to leave participants with a deeper sense of connection to nature, our park community, as well as foster a culture of wellness and mindfulness.
