New York City public school students won’t head to campus on Tuesday, as they have the day off.

Public schools across the five boroughs are closed to students on Tuesday for Election Day. Many campuses will be open as voting sites.

Students will head back to school on Wednesday for the remainder of the school week.

There are still plenty of days off for students through the end of the year.

Election Day marks the first day off for students in November — as schools will also be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.

After these two holidays, students won’t see any time off until Thanksgiving recess from Nov. 27-28. The last day of school before this recess will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, with kids heading back to campus on Monday, Dec. 1.

Winter recess begins on Dec. 24.

The public school academic calendar includes some two dozen days off between the first day and the last day of classes.

The calendar gives time off every year for religious holidays like Good Friday, Yom Kippur and Eid al-Fitr, and week-long breaks for winter recess, mid-winter recess and spring recess, which include Christmas and Passover. Diwali has also been added recently as a public school holiday.

The school calendar also allows time off each year for Italian Heritage Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day (Columbus Day), Election Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day and Juneteenth. Dates for parent-teacher conference days for elementary, middle schools and high schools are also posted in the calendar.
