On Tuesday, June 23, the New York State Police arrested a pair of New York Mills residents following a death investigation.
Troopers arrested Jaime L. Green, 53 and charged her with:
• first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, a class E felony.
• first-degree endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person, a class D felony.
• concealment of a human corpse, a class E felony.
• tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.
State Police also arrested Shannon J. McLennan, 49 and charged him with:
• concealment of a human corpse, a class E felony.
• tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.
On June 23 at 11:24 a.m., the New York State Police were contacted by the New York Mills Police Department regarding a welfare check at a residence located on New Hartford Street in the village of New York Mills.
Upon arrival, police found a deceased individual inside the residence. Once contacted New York State Police responded and began the investigation. They determined the individual had been deceased for an extended period of time.
Troopers identified the deceased as June C. Green, 84, New York Mills.
During the investigation, troopers determined June Green had medical conditions and disabilities that prevented her from caring for herself. They determined that Jaime Green was her caretaker and resided at the residence with McLennan. The investigation further revealed that June Green was deceased and had remained inside the residence for an extended period of time before being discovered.
Investigators determined that Green’s death was not reported, they took actions to conceal Green and the suspects had tampered with evidence related to the investigation.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Green’s death.
Troopers transported Green and McLennan to Oneida County CAP Court for arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
