PLYMOUTH, Ind. (WNDU) – Former NASCAR star and South Bend native Ryan Newman returned to Plymouth Motor Speedway on Saturday to compete alongside his daughter, Brooklyn, in the All-Star National Pavement Midget Series.
The race marked the third time the father-daughter duo has competed together.
“It’s awesome. I’m, you know, just happy that we can do something like this,” Newman said. “Got to thank David Ward and a lot of fans came out tonight to not just watch me, but watch midget racing. So the All-Star Midgets, it’s pretty special.”
Fans packed Plymouth Motor Speedway for the event. After the race, Newman and his daughter spent time signing autographs and meeting fans.
