As high temperatures and dangerous heat continue across Western New York, the city of Buffalo has opened several cooling centers for anyone looking to beat the heat. Splash pads around the city will also remain open later to accommodate everyone looking to cool down.

With the humidity, feel-like temperatures may reach the upper 90s on Tuesday. There is a heat advisory in effect from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today.

“With extreme heat expected this week, we’re asking residents to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families,” Mayor Sean Ryan said. “If you don’t have access to air conditioning, please visit one of our cooling centers, drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, and check in on older neighbors and loved ones.”

Residents are encouraged to call ahead to cooling centers before visiting, as some locations may have expanded hours or additional services.
