BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — CATHOLIC CHARITIES BROOKLYN AND QUEENS will see a leadership transition this week with the retirement of Reverend Monsignor Alfred P. LoPinto and the appointment of Very Reverend Patrick J. Keating, Esq. as president and CEO.
Keating, who begins his new role on July 1, currently serves as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. He has held numerous responsibilities at Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens since 2011, working closely with LoPinto. Keating brings to his new role a deep knowledge of the agency’s 160 programs and services. He demonstrated strong leadership in 2020 by guiding the agency as interim CFO through the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity said.

Ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn in 2005, Keating holds a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, and three other degrees. He also has several roles within the Diocese of Brooklyn administration: rector of the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph-St. Teresa of Avila in Prospect Heights, moderator of the curia (senior staff administrator), vicar for financial administration, general counsel, and chaplain of the Catholic Lawyers Guild for Kings Chapter.
LoPinto’s ministry at Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens began over 45 years ago. He was appointed president and CEO of the group and its affiliate corporations in 2014.
