The heat is on, and it will be sticking around through the Fourth of July weekend.

Wednesday is expected to be the first day of a heat wave that will likely last into, if not through, the July 4 holiday weekend, a miserable 5-day stretch that’s prompted widespread extreme heat warnings.

Temperatures will top 90 degrees Wednesday before peaking Thursday and Friday. Central Park could hit 100 degrees for the first time since 2012. Maybe twice. That kind of heat, plus humidity, can be deadly.
