STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A car stop in Stapleton led to the discovery of drugs and the arrests of two men, according to police.

The episode began on Oct. 9 at about 10 p.m. when officers spotted a black 2023 Mercedes-Benz on Osgood Avenue near Van Duzer Street. Ismael Perez, 33, of Boynton Place in Brooklyn, was driving the vehicle with Vincent Gerwer, 28, of Hawser Drive in Forked River, New Jersey, in the passenger seat, according to the criminal complaint and police.

Officers noticed that the windows on the car were excessively tinted. Perez was unable to provide a valid driver’s license upon request and further investigation revealed that his license was suspended or revoked, according to the complaint.
