Harmful algal bloom reported near in Hyde Park Lake

The Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is warning people of a probable harmful algal bloom near Duck Island in Hyde Park Lake.

The organization is warning everyone to use caution and to keep themselves and others, including pets, out of discolored bodies of water.

Also, if you see what may look like a harmful algal bloom, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper officials are asking that you report it to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Waterkeeper.

Blooms appear during prolonged periods of warm temperatures.
