MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Manhattan Fire Department responded to an industrial building fire in Manhattan, Kan.
According to the Manhattan Fire Department, crews responded at 7:41 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, to reports of a structure fire at a large industrial building at 1105 Kretschmer Dr. near McCall Rd.
Manhattan Fire Department officials said when crews arrived, they found the contents of a large oven on fire inside a metal fabrication and manufacturing facility. Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. Crews remained on scene to ventilate the area and ensure the building was safe.
Officials said that 15 firefighters responded on five apparatus. Two units from Pottawatomie County EMS also responded.
Officials said the fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to the facility or equipment.
“The business did all the right things,” Battalion Chief Jason Hudson said. “They got people out of the building and alerted the fire department in a timely manner. This was a best-case scenario incident.”
Hudson said he appreciates the support from Pottawatomie County EMS.
Officials noted the business is operated by PTMW, Inc., and the owner of the building is listed as Flint Hills Ventures LLC.
