The Central Astoria LDC’s 42nd Annual Independence Day Celebration was one to remember. Astoria Park was packed with thousands of community members and visitors who came together to celebrate one of Queens’ most anticipated iconic summer traditions and it did not disappoint.
This year’s milestone celebration featured an electrifying performance by the sensational Alyson Briggs + Dan Gabel and their 18-piece big band. Their vibrant stage presence filled the park with electric energy and patriotic spirit — a perfect kickoff to an incredible evening.
Council Member Tiffany Cabán welcomed the crowd noting that this was one of her favorite annual events embodying the multiculturalism and unity of Astoria. NYS Senator Michael Gianaris, in his last year as Senator, led the audience in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
At 9:15 PM, all eyes turned to the sky for a jaw-dropping fireworks display by Grucci! The bursts of color and light had the entire lawn and park erupting in cheers, capturing the joy and magic of Independence Day in a way only fireworks can.

George Stamatiades, President of Central Astoria, thanked everyone who came out, showed joy, togetherness, and community pride that makes Astoria so special.
