Former Auburn basketball forward Chaney Johnson has signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets to stay with the team ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season on Monday, June 29. He will also compete on the Nets‘ Summer League roster.
After solid play late into the season, Johnson has landed himself a contract to stick around in Brooklyn by agreeing to the Nets’ two-way contract offer. Free agency was set to open up the day before the deal was agreed upon.
Johnson originally joined the Nets through a two-way contract back in December of last year. He earned solid minutes for the Eastern Conference team. While on the main roster, he finished his season with 8.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in 17 games played
Before joining Brooklyn’s main roster, he was playing on the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League. The former standout at Auburn appeared in 24 games and averaged 14.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
Johnson recently turned 24 just last month and now will be entering his sophomore season in the NBA. Brooklyn looks to continue bolstering his role coming off the bench for solid minutes for the franchise.
