Art Director Elmeri Raitanen and actor Sean Durrie tallk about expanding Control’s story beyond the boundaries of the first game.
Remedy Entertainment is taking Control’s story to exciting new places in the upcoming Control Resonant. That story will focus on Dylan Faden, who is on the search for his sister, Jessie. Who better to talk to about that than the actor who plays Dylan, Sean Durrie, along with Art Director Elmeri Raitanen?
“We’ve been saying that what Control and the setting of the Oldest House is to a normal office building, then our Manhattan is now to a normal New York City,” Raitanen told Shacknews. “We definitely wanted to create something that’s fairly unique and stands out and is ownable. Many people, and many projects, and movies have had Manhattan as their central location so far, so we wanted to make sure that this one belongs to us. If you take a screenshot of this game and somebody randomly sees it, they immediately know that, ‘Hey, that’s from that Control Resonant game!'”
Raitanen and Durrie talk about all of the major differences between Resonant and its predecessor. It’s something that I also made sure to discuss during my recent Summer Game Fest preview. Durrie also talks about what it took to bring Dylan to life, as the character witnesses reality collapse around him.
Control Resonant is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on Thursday, September 24. For more from Shacknews E4, be sure to subscribe to Shacknews and Shacknews Interviews on YouTube.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can’t enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
