Ball drops in Times Square to celebrate Fourth of July

A special ball was dropped in Times Square at midnight Friday to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in the Eastern time zone.

The red, white and blue ball is dropping eight times to mark the start of Independence Day across all U.S. time zones.

The first ball drop took place at 10 a.m. on Friday to mark the start of Independence Day in Guam.

The last one dropped at 7 a.m. for American Samoa.
