BOZEMAN, Mont. — Gallatin High School filled its boys basketball coaching opening by hiring Churchill native Caleb Bellach after Michael Claxton left for the head coaching job at the University of Providence in Great Falls.
Bellach coached Manhattan in Class B last season in his only year leading the Tigers.
His coaching background is brief, but Bellach has a long list of accomplishments as a player.
At Manhattan Christian, Bellach helped lead the program to three straight Class C state championship games and won a state title in 2019. He finished his high school career as Manhattan Christian’s all-time leading scorer with more than 1,553 points.
Bellach then played at Montana Tech, where he scored more than 1,344 points and grabbed 357 rebounds. During three seasons with the Orediggers, he earned NAIA All-American honors and helped the team win three conference titles and three conference tournament titles.
Bellach was also named Frontier Conference Player of the Year in his junior season and became one of 12 players in Montana Tech history to score more than 1,000 points.
