ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State is investing $100 million to upgrade law enforcement technology and equipment across the state.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday $75 million will be available to police departments and sheriffs’ offices through the LETECH grant program to modernize equipment and improve officer and community safety.
The program will fund various equipment and technology, such as body-worn cameras and vests, trauma kits, 3D crime scene laser scanners, drones, and more.
Another $25 million will fund a new statewide records management system to streamline reporting and information sharing.
Any village, town, city, and tribal police departments and county sheriffs’ offices, are eligible to apply. The Division of Criminal Justice Services will notify eligible agencies of the LETECH request for applications.
