ROSENDALE, N.Y. — A state of emergency has been declared in the town due to extensive damage caused by the storms on July 4.
In an announcement posted on the town’s website on Tuesday, July 7, officials said the storms resulted in widespread damage through much of the town, resulting in the closure of many roads because they are impassable due to downed trees and live wires on the ground.
The announcement added that town officials have been working to identify power outages and to have power restored as quickly as possible and are continuing to bring in assistance from Ulster County and New York state.
Residents whose homes suffered structural damage due to the storms are asked to document the damage and take photos. Information about structural damage should be sent via email to stormdamageinfo@townofrosendaleny.gov.
“The town will work with our State and Federal Officials to secure any possible assistance that is available to those affected,” the announcement said. “Further information will follow as it becomes available.”
