MASSENA, New York (WWNY) – New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle personal injury crash on State Route 37 in the town of Massena on Wednesday morning.
The crash was reported at approximately 8:04 a.m. on July 8, 2026.
Investigators determined that a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Zechariah J. Monroe, 29, of Massena, was involved in a head-on collision with a 2025 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by Quinn T. Benedict, 55, of Akwesasne, Ontario.
Monroe was transported by Akwesasne Ambulance to Massena Memorial Hospital with complaints of head pain. He was evaluated for a possible concussion and bruising. Hospital staff advised that his injuries were not considered serious, and he was released later that day.
The operator of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. Following the investigation, Monroe was issued traffic citations. State Police said the investigation has been completed.
