A lawsuit has been filed in the hand recount in the unresolved Democratic primary race for the Onondaga County Legislature’s 16th District, alleging fraud in the process.
According to the latest unofficial results, Charlene Tarver is ahead by five votes over Nyatwa Bullock, with 22 ballots remaining to be counted. An injunction was placed Thursday by a state Supreme Court judge to stop all ballot canvassing, ballot adjustment, hand counting and election certification.
The Onondaga County District Attorney’s office has also opened a preliminary investigation into this case, specifically the possible election fraud claims that Tarver has made, which accuses Bullock’s campaign of fraudulently signing voter names on absentee ballot applications and then taking those ballots and voting for them.
A hearing is set for Wednesday in Onondaga County Supreme Court.
