(WENY) — Families across New York State can apply for Summer EBT benefits for food and household essentials. Funded by No Kid Hungry New York, eligible families can receive up to $120 for each child for groceries.
Children are automatically eligible if they are aged 6 to 16 years old and receive SNAP benefits or qualify for free or reduced meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
If your child is not automatically eligible for Summer EBT, there is still a way to apply online. Children qualify for benefits if they participate in NSLP and live in households with income levels at or below the requirements for free or reduced school meals. Online applications must be completed by September 8th.
Benefits began to be issued on June 16th and will continue throughout the year. However, the Summer EBT benefits will only last 122 days from the date received.
A link to check your eligibility for summer benefits can be found here, and more information can be found on New York’s Summer EBT website.
