CAROLL GARDENS, Brooklyn (WABC) — A car smashed into a deli Sunday morning in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.
Video from the scene shows an Audi vehicle next to the storefront where shattered glass littered the sidewalk outside Garden Gourmet Deli.
Police say a 23-year-old male was operating a 2013 Mercedes Benz traveling northbound on Henry Street against traffic. The Mercedes collided with a 2019 Audi, operated by a 37-year-old male, that was traveling eastbound on Union Street.
The Audi mounted the sidewalk and struck the storefront.
The 22-year-old female passenger of the Mercedes was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and is expected to survive.
The 37-year-old operator of the Audi was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and also is expected to survive.
Police said one person is in police custody but did not specify the person’s identity or charges they may be facing.
