Great Neck Public Schools Superintendent Kenneth Bossert was officially sworn in Sunday, June 28, as president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents.
Bossert was elected by his peers to lead the organization for the 2026-27 school year. He previously served as president-elect for the 2025-26 year. Bossert is the second Great Neck superintendent to lead the organization; John Miller, the namesake of Great Neck North High School, served as president from 1961 to 1962.
In addition to his work with the state council, Bossert is a member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Council and the Nassau County Council of School Superintendents’ executive committee. He also serves as president of the SCOPE Board of Directors and is a past president of the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association.

Bossert is an adjunct professor for Stony Brook University’s educational administration program and participates in multiple superintendent development programs.
The New York State Council of School Superintendents is a professional and advocacy organization for public school leaders. Established in 1883, the council dedicates itself to advancing public education by providing support, leadership training and policy advocacy for its members.
