Fort Lauderdale United FC (3-1-4, 13 points) tied Brooklyn FC (1-4-5, 8 points) 1-1 on Saturday night in its first match at Beyond Bancard Field in 49 days. Midfielder Kelli Van Treeckscored her third goal of the season, the most among league midfielders, helping Fort Lauderdale earn another point at home.
Brooklyn struck first in the 7th minute to take an early lead. Making her first start of the season after the red card to Bella Hara, goalkeeper Haley Craig came up big with a near-post save in the 9th minute to prevent Brooklyn from doubling its advantage. Fort Lauderdale began to find momentum midway through the half, highlighted by a Lily Nabet shot in the 22nd minute that was cleared off the line.
The equalizer came in the 39th minute. Stella Nyamekye delivered a free kick into the box, Nabet let the ball roll through, and Van Treeck slid to finish, tying the match at 1-1 before halftime.
At the break, Fort Lauderdale substituted forward Jasmine Hamid in for Kat González. Nyamekye remained active, taking dangerous shots in the 49th and 61st minutes. Later substitutions saw Darya Rajaee replace Nyamekye in the 70th minute, Princess Ademiluyi come on for Van Treeck in the 76th, and Laurel Ansbrow enter for Nabet in the 89th.
In stoppage time, Taylor Smith was shown her second red card of the season, forcing Fort Lauderdale to finish with ten players. Both sides pushed for a late winner, but the match ended at 1-1.
With the draw, Fort Lauderdale has now earned points in seven of its eight matches this season.
The club will next travel to Carolina Ascent FC on Saturday, November 8, marking its first visit to American Legion Memorial Stadium since last season’s dramatic Super League Semifinal victory.
