A family-owned business in Yonkers is dealing with a costly setback after an overnight break-in.

The owners of La Hacienda Meat and Grocery Market on Central Park Avenue say someone smashed through the front door in the middle of the night.

The family says the suspect broke the glass entrance, stole a safe and pried open cash registers inside the store.

Owners are still trying to determine exactly how much money was taken.

They say the loss is significant for a small family-run business.

“Though to somebody this might not seem like a big deal, for us it’s huge because we’re a family-owned business,” said Tanyi Arriaga. “We all chip in here.”

The family says the burglary happened within a matter of minutes.

Police are investigating and reviewing nearby surveillance cameras for possible clues.
