Three new queens were crowned Sunday at the 79th annual NEMO Fair Queen Pageant, highlighting a packed evening of competition centered around a unique family dynamic.
The pageant, themed “Battle of the Sisters,” took place Sunday, July 12, inside the Event Center and Multipurpose Building at the NEMO Fairgrounds. The thematic title proved fitting for the field of competitors, which featured 19 contestants and included three sets of sisters among the participants.
By the end of the night, Bella Baker was named the 79th NEMO Fair Queen. Joining her in the 2026 royalty court were Teen Miss Adalyn Gordy and Young Miss Penelope Moore.
Ela Soroka served as the emcee for the program, navigating a large field of 22 young ladies who took the stage throughout the extended event. Organizers credited Soroka with keeping the lengthy production running smoothly, while also praising all of the participants for the time and effort they dedicated to preparing for the stage.
Local businesses provided the traditional floral arrangements for the winners. The bouquets presented to the newly crowned queens were created by The Blossom Shop in Kirksville, Iris & Ivy – Designs From The Heart, and Hy-Vee Floral.
Following the conclusion of the pageant, organizers advised participants that several items, including flash drives, were recovered from the dressing room area. Competitors who misplaced personal belongings during the event are encouraged to reach out to fair officials to reclaim their property.
