ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State is launching Cannabis Honestly, a statewide campaign aimed at helping young people, parents and educators navigate conversations about cannabis.

Developed after a year-long listening effort involving more than 450 New Yorkers, the campaign is designed to provide trusted information, reduce misinformation and support healthy decision-making as the state’s regulated cannabis market continues to grow.

The free resources include conversation guides, videos, interactive tools and downloadable materials available in both English and Spanish. Schools, libraries, healthcare providers and community organizations are also encouraged to incorporate the materials into their outreach efforts.
New Yorkers can access the campaign’s resources, including conversation guides and the Community Engagement Toolkit, through the Cannabis Honestly website.
“The Cannabis Honestly campaign was carefully and thoughtfully designed to equip parents and caregivers with the tools they need to have real-world conversations with their children about cannabis. As New York’s cannabis landscape continues to evolve, the Department remains committed to working with our partners to provide communities with meaningful health education and resources.” said New York State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald.
Office of Mental Health Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan said, “Now more than ever, New Yorkers need to know the facts about cannabis and the risks involved for our youth. OMH supports OCM’s Cannabis Honestly campaign developed by subject matter experts to help young people and their families make informed decisions, while also supporting public health education and prevention efforts statewide.”
