Residents in the Manhattan area will have an opportunity later this month to donate or pick up used furniture during the city’s annual Furniture Amnesty Day.
The free event is scheduled for Friday, July 24, beginning at 8 a.m. in the A-2 parking lot on the K-State campus. Furniture shopping will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. by scheduled time slots, with participants able to take home up to five furniture items at no cost.
Residents living within Manhattan city limits can also register by July 22 for free curbside pickup of furniture donations, or they can drop off donations at the event throughout the day. Mattresses, appliances, televisions and other electronics will not be accepted.
Organizers say any unclaimed furniture remaining after 4 p.m. will be opened to the general public before the event concludes. If weather causes a postponement, the event will be rescheduled for July 31.
