“The Odyssey” cast has arrived in NYC — and so has a massive Trojan horse.
Ahead of the epic film’s world premiere Tuesday night, a 40-foot Trojan horse weighing more than 8,000 pounds has been installed outside AMC Lincoln Square in Manhattan.
“I’m super excited for the movie. I’ve had my tickets now for months,” said Matt Amsterdam, who lives on the Upper West Side. “I saw the pictures yesterday online, but I was like I live nearby, so I just wanted to come check [the horse] out.”
The horse is a replica of the wooden horse used in the production of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” It stands on a bed of sand, with the film’s title displayed below, and two large pillars topped with flames.
The structure stretches along Broadway between West 66th and West 68th streets on the Upper West Side, part of a block-long transformation ahead of the premiere.
On Tuesday night, cast members including Zendaya, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o and Robert Pattinson, along with director Christopher Nolan, are expected to attend the premiere.
The film opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, but if you haven’t gotten a ticket yet, it may be difficult to snag one.
Due to high demand, showings in New York City are nearly sold out. Some movie fans outside the Lincoln Square AMC said they waited as long as three hours in line to secure a seat.
The film is making cinematic history, standing as the first feature film to be shot entirely with IMAX film cameras.
“The Odyssey” is a Universal production, part of NBC Universal, the parent company of NBC New York and Telemundo 47.
