Isaac Argro, 26, was sentenced Tuesday for fatally shooting 20-year-old Azsia Johnson in June 2022, the Manhattan DA’s office announced.

He had been convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon on May 28.

Johnson was walking with their 3-month-old child in a stroller on June 29, 2022 when she was shot in the head by Argro, according to the Manhattan DA’s office. She was pronounced dead at Metropolitan Hospital, authorities said.

According to the Manhattan DA’s office, Argro had convinced Johnson to meet him by saying he would give her items for their daughter.

Johnson had sent text messages to a family member detailing where the meeting was and what Argro was wearing, which matched the accounts of 911 callers following the incident, the Manhattan DA’s office’s said.

After the shooting, Argro fled the scene and discarded his outfit, according to the Manhattan DA’s office.

“Azsia Johnson was a loving parent who left an abusive relationship and began to rebuild her life,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg wrote in a statement. “Her dreams of moving forward were brought to a horrific end when her ex, Isaac Argro, executed her in cold blood in front of their infant daughter.”
